Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 12 June 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to the Prayer Times: Quran & Qibla mobile application (“App”, “we”, “our”, or “us”). It explains what information the App accesses, stores, uses, or shares to provide prayer times, Qibla direction, prayer reminders, location selection, Adhkar progress, and app preferences.
1. Information We Access or Store
Prayer Times: Quran & Qibla does not sell your personal data.
The App may access or store the following information:
a. Location Data
If you choose automatic location detection, the App may access your approximate or precise device location. This is used to:
- Calculate accurate prayer times
- Calculate Qibla direction
- Suggest suitable prayer calculation settings
- Save your selected location for future prayer time calculations
Your selected location, including latitude, longitude, city name, country name, and last updated time, may be stored locally on your device.
b. Manual Location Search
If you choose manual location selection, the city or place search runs against a city list bundled inside the App on your device. Your search text is not sent to a remote search service.
c. App Preferences
The App stores preferences locally on your device, including:
- Prayer calculation method
- Madhab selection
- Alarm sound type
- Prayer reminder settings
- Volume setting
- Haptic/vibration setting
- First-time setup status
- Other app settings
d. Prayer and Adhkar Progress
The App may store prayer reminder preferences and Adhkar progress locally on your device so your progress and settings remain available.
e. Feedback Data
If you submit feedback from within the App, your rating, selected feedback categories, written feedback, app version, device model, and Android version may be sent through your selected email app to our support email address.
This information is used only to review feedback, fix issues, and improve the App.
f. Firebase Analytics, Crash Reporting, Performance, and Messaging Data
The App uses Firebase services provided by Google, including Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Performance Monitoring, and Firebase Cloud Messaging.
These services may automatically collect limited technical and diagnostic information such as app version, app-instance identifiers, Firebase installation identifiers, crash logs, stack traces, relevant app state at the time of a crash, device model, operating system version, performance metrics, app start time, network request latency, CPU/memory usage, masked IP address or country-level location derived from IP address, notification interaction events, and Firebase messaging related identifiers.
This information is used to understand app stability, diagnose crashes, monitor performance, improve user experience, and support notification or messaging functionality. We do not use this information to sell personal data.
g. IP-Based Location (Skip/Offline Fallback)
If you choose not to grant GPS location permissions or click “Skip for now” during setup, the App may use your device’s IP address to estimate your approximate location (city and country). This approximate location is used solely to compute local Prayer Times and Qibla direction without requiring precise GPS coordinates.
2. How We Use Information
We use information only to provide and improve App functionality, including:
- Calculating accurate prayer times
- Calculating Qibla direction
- Detecting or selecting your location
- Saving your app preferences
- Scheduling prayer reminders and Adhan notifications
- Playing the Adhan or reminder sound at the scheduled time
- Restoring alarms after device restart
- Saving Adhkar progress
- Responding to user feedback and support requests
3. Third-Party Services
The App may rely on third-party services for platform and location-related functionality, including:
- Google Play Services
- Android location services
- Android Geocoder/location lookup services
- Firebase Analytics
- Firebase Crashlytics
- Firebase Performance Monitoring
- Firebase Cloud Messaging
- IP Geolocation Services (IPInfo, IPWhois, GeoJS, FreeIPAPI) for fallback location estimation when location permission is skipped or unavailable
- Content delivery for optional downloads (Hadith collections and Tafsir files) and for streamed Quran audio recitation
These services may process limited information such as location requests, device/service identifiers, diagnostics, or network information as needed to provide their functionality.

4. Permissions Used by the App
The App requests the following Android permissions:
a. Internet and Network Access
android.permission.INTERNETandroid.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
Used to check internet availability and support location lookup, optional content downloads, and audio recitation streaming.
b. Location Access
android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATIONandroid.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION
Used only when you choose location-based features such as automatic location detection or Qibla direction.
c. Notifications
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Used to show prayer reminders, Adhan notifications, and related alerts.
d. Exact Alarm Scheduling
android.permission.SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM
Used to schedule prayer reminders at accurate prayer times.
e. Boot Completed Access
android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED
Used to reschedule prayer reminders after the device restarts.
f. Wake Lock and Vibration
android.permission.WAKE_LOCKandroid.permission.VIBRATE
Used to help deliver prayer reminders reliably and provide vibration alerts when selected by the user.
g. Foreground Service (Media Playback)
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICEandroid.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK
Used to play the Adhan or reminder sound reliably at the scheduled prayer time. When an alarm fires, the App starts a short-lived foreground service that shows a notification while the sound is playing, so the system does not stop playback part-way through. The service stops itself once the sound finishes or you dismiss the alarm. No audio is recorded and no media is uploaded.
h. Full Screen Notifications
android.permission.USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT
Used to show the full-screen Adhan alarm over the lock screen at prayer time, so the alert is visible when your device is locked. On Android 14 and later this requires your explicit approval, and the App will fall back to a normal notification if it is not granted.
i. Ignore Battery Optimizations (optional)
android.permission.REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS
Used only if you choose to exempt the App from battery optimization, which helps prevent the system from delaying or suppressing prayer alarms. This is optional, is always your choice, and can be changed at any time in your device settings.
5. Local Storage and Data Deletion
Most App data is stored locally on your device. This includes selected location, prayer settings, alarm preferences, sound settings, Adhkar progress, bookmarks, and any Hadith or Tafsir content you chose to download.
You can delete locally stored App data by:
- Clearing Prayer Times: Quran & Qibla app data from Android settings
- Uninstalling the App
If you send feedback by email, that email is handled by your email provider and received by us for support purposes. You may contact us to request deletion of feedback emails you previously sent.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
Data may be processed by third-party services only when required for App functionality, such as location detection, platform services, content downloads, audio streaming, or user-initiated feedback email.
The App may also allow you to share Islamic content or feedback using Android’s share/email features. Sharing through those features is user-initiated and controlled by the app or service you choose.
7. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect user data and use secure communication where applicable. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children’s Privacy
Prayer Times: Quran & Qibla is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child has provided personal data, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this public privacy policy page. Continued use of the App after updates means you accept the revised policy.
10. Data Deletion
We do not create user accounts or store personal user profiles on our own servers. Location and preference data used by the app is stored locally on the user’s device and can be deleted by clearing the app data or uninstalling the app. Firebase data such as analytics, crash logs, performance data, and installation identifiers is handled according to Google Firebase retention and deletion practices.
